Stop updating renew date for one year ahead

When we go to renew an item, the system now automatically changes the date for one year in advance. Most of our items do not renew each year. It is very easy for us to miss the fact that you changed the year for us. Can we go back to allowing us to choose the renewal date without the assumption of it being one year ahead? I am already seeing our typos and mistakes in my team’s future. Thanks.
